The client was a government with high digitization potential, interested in implementing modern data management services. The main goal was to create a large-scale digital library capable of carefully transferring ancient national manuscripts into a modern format. The project was initiated due to the vast number of fragile historical documents that required not just simple scanning, but deep restoration. It was important to make texts readable and accessible for machine analysis while preserving their original authenticity and illustrations. The project aimed to unite scattered archives into a single cross-platform ecosystem, ensuring process transparency and global access to unique knowledge for everyone.

Client Request: Slow Manual Processing of Fragile Archives

The traditional approach to transferring ancient folios to digital format took enormous amounts of time and did not allow content indexing. Images remained unsearchable, and physical page deterioration complicated reading. A tool was needed that would automatically recognize complex graphics, restore lost fragments, and convert them into a structured format.

Solution: Development of Cross-Platform AI Library

A team of three specialists designed and launched the product MVP in five months. The methodology included creating a unified codebase for the web version and mobile applications. A complex pipeline was built: from uploading raw scans and text recognition by neural networks to manual pre-press layout in a convenient admin panel, which guaranteed reference quality of the final material.

Stack: Python, FastAPI, Next.js, Flutter, PostgreSQL

Technology choices were driven by the need to handle high loads and process heavy media files. The Python server-side easily integrates with external AI models for OCR and translation. The Flutter mobile application provided unified UX for iOS and Android. Elasticsearch was implemented for instant full-text search across thousands of pages, and MinIO was trusted for reliable scan storage.

Impact: 10x Acceleration in Text Restoration and Digitization

Implementation of the automated pipeline achieved complete preservation of fragile originals, eliminating the need for constant physical handling. Archive processing speed increased dramatically, reducing staff workload. The platform provided 24/7 global access to national heritage, combining text formats, audiobooks, and monetization system in one convenient interface.

Future Plans - Multilingual AI Translator Integration

The next step will be implementing a neural network module that can adapt historical works for foreign readers on the fly. This will eliminate language barriers and scale the project to an international audience, adding support for new dialects and enhanced engagement analytics.
